How to change the height of a row using expressions?

Is it possible to have a report parameter that will change the height of rows in a report? The height property of a matrix row does not seem to support expressions.

My goal is to instruct a single row sub-report to grow in height until it fits the height of the parent report cell.I thought that I could pass the height of the parent row as a parameter to the sub-report and then change the height of the sub-report using an expression.

Any help will be appreciated,

As far as I know SQL Server begins with a low type (row locking) and
increase if it needs.

By default, SQL Server considers the locking granularity automatically, and
the default choices it makes are usually best.

I am wondering how to create a matrix that contains 1 dimension for Top Label (Column), let's say "Year-Month"

and then 2 Measure to be in the row format rather than columnar format.

Example as below :

Year-Month on the column, and the measure is on the row :

This is easily supported (no need to quote every other tool under the sun to prove your piont).

You just have to drag the field from the dataset window to the right area and drop when you see a horizontal bar

How to callapse rows together

I'm need to collaspe a few rows together and output one row per group. The rows come from a flat file and are already sorted by orderid. Basically these are transactions with just the changed fields in them all unchanged fields are null (blank). They need to collapsed down to show the final state of all changed fields per order. Obviously the aggregate transform won't work in this situation since the goal is to collaspe instead of aggregate. In a language, I would normally buffer the previous row and apply the logic as needed until the orderid changed and then write out the new row. Then input file has millions of rows so I also didn't want to cursor through it updating individual rows in a table.

Example:

2 X 02/02/06 20

The logic that you say you would apply in a programming language can be applied in exactly the same in SSIS by using a script component. I recommend you take a look at building an asynchronous script component.

I am basically archiving some data from one db to another...
This process causes a great increase in the size of the log file. Any way
to do the row transfer without affecting the size of the log file ? I have
filled up the hard drive before doing such activities.

You can't "bypass" the transaction log, nor would you want to. What
you can do is archive your records in batches, rather than all at once.
Doing the work in batches will keep the individual transactions small,
allowing them to commit faster, and your transaction log backups that
you run at regular intervals will then remove those committed
transactions from the transaction log.|||You can't turn off or bypass transaction logging. If you are moving a very
large amount of data on a regular basis such as once every month, quater, or
year, you may consider using table partitioning in SQL2005, which allows you
to slide a partition (that may correspond to a month worth of data) in and
out of a table as a SQL Server meta-data operation thus without causing your
tran log to fill up. Contrast this with having to delete and insert every
single row for the month.

How to bulk insert a file with fixed row length and no row terminator?

Hi All,

I have a file that has fixed row size of 148 and fixed column size, but the file has no end of line character. I know it is wierd but a client has made the file and refuses to change the format. So I am stuck with reading it the way it is.
In Enterprise Manager, I used the Import/Export wizard and I specified fixed length and it let me specify 148 as the lenght of each line. Then it recognized the file and I was able to read it in.
I saved the DTS package and I can run it over and over again using dtsrun. However I want to do the same thing using Bulk Insert. How do you specify fixed row length for Bulk insert and how do you give it individual column lengths?

ShabWouldn't know how to do this other than using a format-file. An handy way is to use 'bcp' from the command prompt and dump the file into the table. You can have it create a format-file for you.|||Try this:
